Born in New York City to a Mexican father and an Irish mother, Dolores has a diverse, rich culture heritage to draw from. Her music weaves a tapestry that represents her family background and her passion for Jazz, Latin, world music and the music of the theatre.
She began singing professionally at the world famous Improvisation Room in Los Angeles, performing between the sets of comics like Robin Williams, Richard Belzer, Larry David and Jay Leno. During this time, she also developed and produced her own cabaret acts appearing in Los Angeles at the Rose Tattoo, Cafe Melrose, Belage 1020, Studio One, The Cinegrille and Tommy Rolla's Gardenia.
Love & marriage took Dolores to France, where she formed a band and sang traditional American Blues and Jazz, both in Lyon and Paris.
Her 2010 premiere recording "A Special Taste" was produced by Mark Winkler, receivied rave reviews. It appeared on critic and jazz historian W. Royal Stokes' list of best CDs for 2010. Respected critic Don Heckman wrote "It's all about the song, not the label, with Dolores Scozzesi. Like Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald and Edith Piaf, she knows how to find the story at the heart of a song.
Her latest cd, "Here Comes the Sun" was released in March, 2018, has charted on the Jazzweek chart and has received amazing reviews. It's now available on cdbaby, Amazon and Itunes.
